The idea, planning and launch of this site is attributed to the founders of Henrico Taxi & Henrico Express Cab in Richmond VA. We were taxi drivers ourselves and understand the industry from a real-life perspective and experience. You may see a ton of taxi calculator sites online, but we know our customers better, and you will notice the difference while using our tool. All data has been thoroughly researched before being published. Every attempt has been made to make this calculator tool as helpful as possible.
As you use the calculator tool, you will notice that we have implemented almost every option that can affect your fare. From hazardous weather, minimum fares, roundtrip fares, grocery surcharges, late night surcharges & much more. In fact we knew that making this calculator was not a simple task as Charlottesville has no fixed taxi rates and taxi companies are free to set their own rates. To make this calculator as helpful as possible, we used 2 fare computations from Yellow Cab & the top local cab companies.
We thought we would go some steps further and enhance this calculator tool by offering an option to calculate fares using only miles. Our thinking was -- as a customer, what if I need a ballpark estimate for 50 miles with no address on hand? This feature, we feel, can be very helpful to users. In fact, after you estimate your fare, we offer users an option to request a flat rate quote for long distances. There is also an option on the fare estimate page to contact or book with local cab companies. We think we did our best here, but will constantly update the calculator as we gain more usage data.
